Launch of URBISNetwork.com

June 5, 2008

On behalf of my colleagues at DIG, I am pleased to invite you to the Urbis Community of Practice website. This site will serve as an online center of reference for all global Urbis activities. It includes descriptions of our programs in the eight cities where Urbis is working to date, as well as a discussion board, which is an open forum for all of us to exchange ideas on urban issues, react to relevant urban events (the current world food crisis for example), and to discuss the Urbis program.

In the future, the website will also feature an expanded photo gallery, a glossary of terms related to capacity-building of pro-poor organizations (Urbis Dictionary), and a library with articles we jointly collect on articles relevant to the Urbis Team. If you have any academic or news articles, or if you have links to other websites you would like us to post, please let us know!

Finally, I would like to thank Craig Matasick, who has played a leading role in the conceptualization and design of this site, and who has a mission you should all be aware of: to make sure urbisnetwork.com is useful to you as you carry out the urbis activities around the world. On behalf of Craig, I would like to encourage you to check the site often and to email your suggestions so that it’s not just another website out there in cyberspace, but a fabulous one we all become addicted to!

I look forward to seeing all of you over the next year.

Cheers,

Marianne
